How it works
Create your profile
Add photos, a short tagline, and what you are looking for. It takes about two minutes.
See who is nearby
People are grouped by distance: right nearby, under a mile, and further out.
Start a conversation
Open a profile, send a message, or send a like. Starting a conversation is always free.
Distance ranges, not locations
Your location is rounded to a grid and offset before it is stored, and distances are calculated on our servers. Other members see only which range you fall into. The closer someone is, the more prominently they appear.

Frequently asked questions
Can other people see my exact location?+
No. Your coordinates are rounded and offset on our servers, and other members only ever see a distance range such as "under 1 mile." You can also hide your range entirely.
Who can use Vicinity?+
Adults 18 and older. Every account confirms age at signup, and accounts reported as belonging to a minor are reviewed and removed.
Is Vicinity free?+
Yes. Browsing, photos, likes, and starting conversations are free. A membership may be introduced later for additional features.
How do I report someone?+
Open their profile and choose Report. Reports go to our moderation team, and you can block the person immediately so neither of you sees the other.
Can I delete my account?+
Yes. Settings has a delete option that permanently removes your account and data. You can also download a copy of your data first.
